EDGE SCHEDULE (Every Day God Encounters)
Welcome back Fall! Here’s to hoping that the steamy, hazy summer days are behind us and will be replaced by cool & crisp breezes and beautiful fall colors. Perhaps the month of September will also bring cooling rains to all those who have been battling wildfires out west and up north!
Here in North Branch, we are gearing up for another year of youth ministry. EDGE Wednesdays have some interesting things in store. The first Wednesday of each month will be a time to just talk while we work on prepping the plastic bag “yarn” needed for the Sleeping Mat Ministry. This will be an ongoing opportunity to bless our brothers and sisters who may not have a permanent address. On the last Wednesday of every month, the youth are invited to bring in non-perishable items for the grocery shelf here at Trinity. This shelf gets quite a bit of use throughout the year and this is an easy way for us to share our abundant gifts with others. In addition to the food collection, something new is happening this year for these last Wednesdays of every month: the EDGE youth will prepare and share a meal together. These meals might be shared as we would in modern times….or maybe they will be shared as they would have in Biblical times. Each month will be different. The following verse from Hebrews 10 comes to mind, not just for these dinners but for the entire 2018-2019 year; “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
As we move in to this new school year, let this be a ministry that gathers, encourages, serves and loves with the Light of Christ.
September Dates to Know
Summer in the Son was so much fun this year! 28 children spent three Wednesdays learning from Trinity’s middle and high school youth. They learned about Moses leading the Israelite’s through the wilderness and how God provided for them along the way. They learned about Ruth and how she stuck by her Mother-In-Law Naomi when times were hard and they learned about Jeremiah and how God has a plan for us even before we are born…and that we are never too young to share God’s love with others.
